Latin Cross Pendants
The cross has pagan origins and has many representations or symbolisms depending on which culture or society uses it.It is said to represent the four points of the compass, North, East West and South. For alchemists it represents the four elements of the nature, Air, Earth, Fire and Water. And so on. Crude cross-like symbols have also has been discovered in China and Africa and some ancient civilizations have something similar as symbols though not necessarily called a cross. In a more dark side it was originally used as a form of punishment for criminals by the Roman Empire. This is the ***st and most straightforward of all the cross designs. Also called as a Chapel or Church Cross, it consists of an upright beam (also called a Stipe) and a horizontal beam (also called a Patibulum) at right angles near the top.Though universally recognized as a symbol or mark of the Christian faith, it is not exclusively used by Christians only.
